mia jokiniva
yogini (sansk.) = powerful, female yogi
iva (sansk.) = like, as
yoginiva = like a yogini
“be still like a mountain
and flow like a great river.”
I am a finnish-born yogini, yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, speaker, author, anthropologist (M.A.), retreat center founder, stress management coach, resilience coach trainer and a social activist.
I’ve studied different forms of human movement and embodied expression for over 35 years, and for the last 20+ years I’ve taught yoga, dance, group fitness and somatic movement as a profession. I’m also an anthropologist with a special study interest in shamanism and healing rituals. This is intwined and woven together today with my yoga teaching profession.
When diving into yoga teaching, my classes and retreats are always a candid blend of yoga philosophy, artful alignment, mantra, creative sequencing, the accuracy of academic research and the teachings of ancient wisdom lineages.
For me a yoga shala is a place where scientific study, dedicated practice and movement alchemy can combine their forces for spiritual evolution.
I continue to study hinduism, buddhism, goddess centered tantra and sanskrit both in academia and in traditional schools of yoga. I am also an enthusiast of sports medicine, yoga therapy and chinese medicine, which do nowadays spice up my teaching notably.
Working as a stress management and resilience coach trainer I’ve been fortunate enough to have collaborated with employees and leaders in many Finnish and international corporations, ministeries, think tanks, corporate keynote speaking on wellbeing and health at work. I’m happy to tell more about the different contents and topics for corporations and businesses, please write us myynti@villamandala.fi
I also lead teacher trainings and retreats in our beautiful retreat center in Finland (www.villamandala.fi). I’d love to meet up with you in person, so look inside and join the flow.
